Chevrolet Silverado EV Home Charging in Ogden

The trim decides whether your truck wants a 60 amp or a 100 amp circuit. Backup power is a separate decision with its own equipment.

Which onboard charger does my Silverado EV have?

Either 11.5 kW or 19.2 kW, depending on trim and options. Chevrolet's 2026 build tool lists the 19.2 kW module as standard on the LT Max Range, optional on the Trail Boss Extended Range, and not available on the Custom Standard Range. An 11.5 kW truck accepts 48 amps; a 19.2 kW truck accepts 80 amps.

From chevrolet.com's compare tool, checked October 4, 2026. The 2026 build tool lists eight Silverado EV models; only these were checked. For a 2024 truck or another 2026 trim, check the window sticker or owner's manual.

If the window sticker does not list the 19.2 kW module, plan for 48 amps.

Match the circuit to the truck. An 11.5 kW Silverado EV gets full speed from a 48 amp charger on a 60 amp circuit. A 19.2 kW truck needs an 80 amp charger on a 100 amp circuit to use it all, though it charges fine at 48 amps. The included Dual Level cord, at up to 7.7 kW, is the slowest option for a battery this size.

GM Energy PowerShift, 80 A100 AUp to 32 miles

Range figures are Chevrolet's own estimates, "based on 2024 Silverado EV," from its home charging page. GM publishes no Level 2 hours-to-full figure for the truck on the pages we read, and no Silverado EV battery size, so we have not estimated one.

48 amps on a 60 amp circuit

This is the full-speed answer for any 11.5 kW truck, and a sensible fallback for a 19.2 kW truck when the panel is tight. The breaker is 125 percent of the charger's continuous output; the breaker sizing guide has the table, and our home EV charger guides compare 48 amp units.

80 amps on a 100 amp circuit

GM's 80 amp option is the PowerShift. Its installation manual sets output with DIP switches, from 32 to 80 amps, and pairs 80 amps with a 100 amp example breaker. It ships set to 0 amps, calls for a standard non-GFCI breaker, and says the installer provides a disconnect under the NEC. Equipment above 60 amps has its own disconnect rule; the F-150 Lightning guide covers the 80 amp install requirements in more depth, and Level 2 charger installation covers the basics.

Can my panel take a 100 amp truck circuit?

Only a load calculation can say. Under the 2023 NEC, a charger counts at its full nameplate rating, so an 80 amp charger adds 19.2 kW of load with no demand discount. Many homes can fit a 60 amp circuit more easily than a 100 amp one. Load management is the usual way to fit the bigger charger without a service upgrade.

Read about EV charger load management and panel upgrades for EV charging. We would rather avoid a panel upgrade, so load management gets checked first.

How does Silverado EV home backup power work?

Through GM Energy's equipment, not a plain charger. The PowerShift charger plus the V2H Enablement Kit (Home Hub, inverter and Dark Start Battery) lets the truck feed a properly equipped home in an outage. GM rates the inverter at 9.6 kW of backup and says a 2026 Silverado EV Max Range can supply a home for up to 5 days, depending on use.

  • Vehicle: GM lists the 2024, 2025 and 2026 Silverado EV as V2H capable. Some 2024 trucks need a dealer or over-the-air update.
  • Charger: GM Energy PowerShift, 19.2 kW and 80 amps, rated to discharge 9.6 kW with the kit.
  • Home side: the kit's Home Hub supports whole or partial home backup on services up to 200 amps.
  • Utility: GM requires "proper grid interconnection." Confirm Rocky Mountain Power's process first.

Chevrolet's separate "up to 10.2 kW of offboard power" figure is for the truck's own outlets, not the house panel. Current PowerShift and kit prices and offers are on the Chevrolet hub. We can quote the PowerShift and V2H kit install.

Which plug does the Silverado EV use at home?

J1772, for 2026 and earlier trucks. GM's August 2026 release lists the 2026 Silverado EV among models that ship with a CCS port. The PowerShift's connector is also CCS1, so it plugs straight in. GM says it expects every 2027 GM EV to have a NACS port, but chevrolet.com still showed the 2026 truck as current when we checked.

For a NACS home charger, a CCS1 truck needs GM's NACS Level 2 Adapter. The NACS DC Adapter sold for Tesla Superchargers is for DC fast charging only. If a later truck has a NACS port, ask GM which adapter the PowerShift needs. See home EV charger installation for the rest of the job.

Silverado EV home charging questions

Is my Silverado EV 11.5 kW or 19.2 kW?

It depends on trim and options. Chevrolet's 2026 build tool lists 19.2 kW as standard on the LT Max Range, optional on the Trail Boss Extended Range, and not available on the Custom Standard Range. The 2025 LT Extended Range lists 11.5 kW standard with 19.2 kW optional. Your window sticker will show which module the truck has.

What circuit does a 19.2 kW Silverado EV need?

An 80 amp charger on a 100 amp circuit to use the full 19.2 kW. GM's PowerShift installation manual pairs its 80 amp setting with a 100 amp example breaker. That is a large load for a home panel, so a load calculation comes first. A 48 amp charger on a 60 amp circuit still works, at 11.5 kW.

Can the Silverado EV power my house?

Yes, with GM Energy's PowerShift charger and V2H Enablement Kit. GM lists the 2024 to 2026 Silverado EV as vehicle-to-home capable and rates the kit at up to 9.6 kW of backup power. GM says a 2026 Silverado EV Max Range can power a properly equipped home for up to 5 days. Some 2024 trucks need a software update first.

Does a 2026 Silverado EV need an adapter at home?

Not with a J1772 charger. GM lists the 2026 Silverado EV among models that ship with a CCS port, which takes a J1772 plug. For a NACS home charger, GM sells a NACS Level 2 Adapter. The NACS DC Adapter is for Superchargers; GM says it does not work with Destination Charging.

Is the Silverado EV's 10.2 kW offboard power the same as V2H?

No. Chevrolet's up to 10.2 kW figure is for the truck's own outlets and available accessory power bar, for tools and campsites. Powering the house through the panel is a separate system that runs through GM Energy's PowerShift charger, V2H Enablement Kit and Home Hub.
