Kia EV Home Charging in Ogden

Kia's EVs ask similar things of a home circuit. What differs is the charge port, which changed model by model from 2025 on.

What do Kia EVs need from a home circuit?

Much the same thing. Kia rates the EV6 and EV9 onboard chargers at 10.9 kW, the Niro EV at 11 kW and the new 2027 EV3 at 11.5 kW. A 48 amp charger on a 60 amp circuit fully uses any of them, and it matches the "240V / 48A" equipment Kia uses for its published charge times.

From Kia's specification pages for each model year shown. The EV3 arrived in dealerships on October 1, 2026, per Kia.

The bigger difference between Kias is battery size. An EV9 Long Range holds 99.8 kWh, so a slower setup costs it more hours than it costs a smaller EV6. The model pages give Kia's own times.

Which plug should a Kia home charger have?

Match the car's port. CCS1-port Kias, meaning 2022 to 2024 EV6s and 2024 to 2025 EV9s, use a J1772 charger. NACS-port Kias, the 2025 and later EV6, 2026 EV9 and 2027 EV3, can plug directly into a NACS-handle charger, or use a J1772 charger through Kia's AC adapter.

Kia announced three adapters in September 2024: NACS to CCS1 for older Kias at Tesla Superchargers, CCS1 to NACS for newer Kias at CCS fast chargers, and J1772 to NACS for newer Kias on Level 2 chargers. Kia's 2026 EV6 manual rates the AC adapter at 250 volts and 80 amps and says approved adapters are sold by Kia dealers. Kia lists the AC adapter as standard on every 2026 EV9.

The adapter Kia gave some 2024 and 2025 buyers is a DC fast charging adapter. It does not let an older Kia charge from a NACS-only home unit. For a garage shared with a Tesla, Tesla's Universal Wall Connector, which has a docked J1772 adapter, covers every Kia. See the Tesla Wall Connector guide and the vehicle charging overview.

What home charging equipment does Kia supply?

A portable cord, and less than it once offered in charging credit. Kia lists a dual-level cord rated 240 volts, 30 amps standard on the 2026 EV9. We found no current Kia home charger offer, and Kia's owner page says enrollment in its Electrify America charging credit program ended December 31, 2025.

For the EV6, Kia's 2026 features list and owner's manual disagree on whether the cord is included, so check what came with your car. The 2027 EV3 release mentions available vehicle-to-home through a Wallbox bidirectional system. Any whole-house backup setup needs its own transfer equipment and utility approval. For the circuit itself, our home EV charger installation page explains what drives the scope, and what size breaker an EV charger needs covers the sizing rule.

Kia EV home charging questions

What size charger does a Kia EV need?

Kia rates the EV6 and EV9 onboard chargers at 10.9 kW, the Niro EV at 11 kW and the 2027 EV3 at 11.5 kW. All of them are fully served by a 48 amp charger on a 60 amp circuit, which is also the 240 volt, 48 amp equipment Kia uses for its published charge times.

Which Kia EVs have a NACS charge port?

Kia says the 2025 EV6 and 2026 EV9 come standard with NACS ports, and the 2027 EV3 has a native NACS port. Kia's 2025 EV6 release excludes the GT from the port relocation. Earlier EV6 and EV9 models have CCS1 ports and use J1772 chargers at home.

Will Kia's free NACS adapter let my older Kia use a Tesla home charger?

No. The free adapter Kia offered from September 4, 2024 was for DC fast charging on NACS chargers such as Tesla Superchargers. A CCS1-port Kia charges at home from a J1772 charger, or from Tesla's Universal Wall Connector using its built-in J1772 adapter.

Does Kia offer a free home charger?

We found no current Kia home charger offer. Kia's owner charging page, checked October 4, 2026, lists public charging programs, and enrollment in the Electrify America Kia Charge Pass program ended December 31, 2025. Ask your dealer to put any local offer in writing.
