Blazer EV Home Charging
Why every Blazer EV we checked shares one 11.5 kW limit, what the SS's bigger pack changes, and how the 2027 NACS port affects the plug.
What changes with Chevy's move to the NACS port, which adapter works at home, and how big a circuit each Equinox EV, Blazer EV or Silverado EV can actually use.

It depends on the model year. GM says most 2026 GM EVs, including the Equinox EV, Blazer EV and Silverado EV, come from the factory with a CCS port, which takes a J1772 plug at home. GM says it expects every 2027 Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC EV to have a native NACS port, and chevrolet.com already lists NACS as standard on the 2027 Equinox EV and Blazer EV.
The Bolt returned as a 2027 model with a NACS port. For the Silverado EV, chevrolet.com still shows the 2026 truck as current, so check the charge port on a 2027 Silverado EV once Chevrolet publishes its specs.
At home the port matters less than people expect, because GM sells Level 2 adapters both ways. What it decides is which charger plugs in without one.
Not the fast-charging one. For 2026 and earlier CCS1-port Chevys, GM sells a NACS Level 2 Adapter it says "Connects to NACS home chargers only," and a separate NACS DC Adapter that GM says is for Superchargers and NACS DC fast chargers, not Destination Charging. For 2027 NACS-port Chevys, GM sells a J1772 AC Adapter for J1772 Level 2 chargers.
| Your Chevy | Home charger | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 and earlier (CCS1) | J1772 charger | Nothing; plugs straight in |
| 2026 and earlier (CCS1) | NACS charger | GM NACS Level 2 Adapter |
| 2027 (NACS) | NACS charger, such as GM PowerUp 2: NACS | Nothing; plugs straight in |
| 2027 (NACS) | J1772 charger | GM J1772 AC Adapter |
| 2027 (NACS) | GM Energy PowerShift | GM PowerShift AC Charging Adapter (CCS1 DC Adapter for backup power) |
From GM Energy's adapter page. GM's PowerShift spec sheet lists its connector as "Combo CCS1," which is why NACS-port Chevys need an adapter for it.
For a garage shared with a Tesla, the usual plan is one charger whose plug suits most of the cars. Ask GM or Tesla whether GM's adapters and NACS-port cars are supported on Tesla's own wall chargers before choosing one. See our Tesla Wall Connector guide for the Tesla side.
Most Chevys top out at 11.5 kW, which is 48 amps on a 60 amp circuit. GM also builds a 19.2 kW onboard charging module, which needs 80 amps on a 100 amp circuit. On chevrolet.com's build tool it is standard on the 2026 Silverado EV LT Max Range and optional on some other trucks and the 2026 Equinox EV RS AWD.
So the circuit question is really a trim question. A Blazer EV owner has one answer; a Silverado EV owner has two. The model guides below give the trim detail, and our breaker sizing guide explains the 125 percent rule behind the numbers.
GM Energy sells three Level 2 wall chargers and a portable cord. The PowerUp 2 comes in J1772 and NACS versions, each rated 11.5 kW and 48 amps. The PowerShift is rated 19.2 kW and 80 amps and is GM's only charger that supports vehicle-to-home backup power, with the separate V2H Enablement Kit. The Dual Level Charger supplies up to 7.7 kW.

GM's own chargers are not required. Any quality 48 amp charger with the right plug does the same job as a PowerUp 2; compare options in our home EV charger guides. The PowerShift is the one to pick if you want the car to back up the house, and every Equinox, Blazer and Silverado EV trim we checked on chevrolet.com lists vehicle-to-home (V2H) as standard. GM's FAQ adds that some 2024 vehicles need a dealer or over-the-air update first. GM refers buyers to its preferred installers; we can quote installing a charger you already bought. Our home EV charger installation page explains what drives the job.

The Equinox EV's 11.5 kW onboard charger, the 48 amp setup that matches it, and how the 2027 NACS port changes the plug.
Trim decides whether a Silverado EV wants a 60 amp or 100 amp circuit. Here is how to tell, and how GM's PowerShift adds home backup power.
No. A 2026 or earlier Equinox EV, Blazer EV or Silverado EV has a CCS1 port that takes any J1772 Level 2 charger. A 2027 NACS-port Chevy plugs straight into a NACS Level 2 charger, or into a J1772 charger with GM's J1772 AC Adapter. GM's own chargers add app pairing and, for the PowerShift, vehicle-to-home backup.
Yes, with the right adapter. GM sells a NACS Level 2 Adapter for CCS1-port GM EVs that GM describes as connecting to NACS home chargers only. The GM NACS DC Adapter is a different part: GM says it is for Superchargers and NACS DC fast chargers, not Destination or other Level 2 charging.
Only trims with GM's 19.2 kW onboard charging module. On chevrolet.com's build tool, that is standard on the 2026 Silverado EV LT Max Range and optional on some Extended Range trucks and the 2026 Equinox EV RS AWD. Every other Equinox and Blazer trim we checked is 11.5 kW.
We found no free-charger program on the Chevrolet and GM Energy pages we read on October 4, 2026. GM Energy was running a discount instead: 30 percent below MSRP on the PowerUp 2: J1772 and PowerShift chargers through November 2, 2026, with installation and taxes not included. Check current terms before you buy.
