Chevrolet Blazer EV Home Charging in Ogden

Every Blazer EV trim we checked shares one onboard charger, so the circuit decision is short. The battery and the model year change the rest.

What onboard charger does the Blazer EV have?

An 11.5 kW unit on every trim we checked, from the 2025 LT FWD to the 2026 SS AWD and the 2027 LT FWD. Chevrolet's build tool lists the "11.5 kW capable onboard charging module" as standard and shows no 19.2 kW option for the Blazer EV. That makes 48 amps the most a Blazer EV will draw at home.

Model year and trimOnboard chargerBattery (GM rated)
2025 LT FWD11.5 kWNot listed
2026 LT FWD11.5 kW85 kWh
2026 SS AWD11.5 kW102 kWh
2027 LT FWD11.5 kW85 kWh

From chevrolet.com's compare tool for each model year, checked October 4, 2026. Chevrolet's 2026 Blazer EV page also lists 85 kWh for LT and RS and 102 kWh for SS. Battery figures are GM's rated energy, not usable capacity. For a 2024 model or the RS, check the window sticker or owner's manual.

This is the Blazer EV's practical advantage at home: there is no 80 amp question to settle. Unlike the Silverado EV, where the trim decides between a 60 amp and a 100 amp circuit, a Blazer EV owner can size for 48 amps and be done.

Does the bigger SS battery change the setup?

It changes the time, not the circuit. The SS's 102 kWh pack is about 20 percent larger than the 85 kWh pack in the LT and RS, so a full charge from low takes longer at the same 11.5 kW. Daily top-ups after normal driving are the same size on either battery, so the same 48 amp charger suits both.

GM does not publish Level 2 charge times in hours for the Blazer EV on the pages we read, so we have not estimated one. What GM does publish is a range figure for its 11.5 kW PowerUp 2 charger, "up to 27.2 miles of range per charge hour," without naming the test vehicle. Treat it as a rough guide; miles per hour of charging vary by vehicle and conditions.

A hardwired 48 amp charger on a 60 amp circuit gives any Blazer EV its full 11.5 kW. If the panel is tight, a 40 amp charger on a 50 amp circuit gives 9.6 kW, which still refills a typical day's driving overnight. The included Dual Level Charge Cord on a 240 volt receptacle is the minimum-cost option at up to 7.7 kW.

The breaker is sized at 125 percent of the charger's continuous output; the breaker sizing guide has the full table. GM's PowerShift can be set to 80 amps, but on a Blazer EV it would still deliver 11.5 kW, so buy it for backup power, not speed. Its installation manual lists output settings from 32 to 80 amps with matching breakers, so it can also be set to 48 amps on a 60 amp circuit. For hardware choices, start with our home EV charger guides, and see Level 2 charger installation for the install itself.

Under the 2023 NEC, a charger is counted at its full nameplate rating in the load calculation, so a 48 amp charger adds about 11.5 kW. If that pushes the panel over, load management can cap the charger instead of upgrading service. We would rather avoid a panel upgrade, so load management gets checked first.

Will my Blazer EV plug into a NACS or J1772 charger?

That depends on the model year. GM lists the 2026 Blazer EV among models that still ship with a CCS port, which takes a J1772 plug at home. Chevrolet's 2027 Blazer EV page lists a "New NACS charge port" as standard. GM sells Level 2 adapters for either direction, so neither car is locked out of the other plug type.

  • 2026 or earlier on a NACS charger: GM NACS Level 2 Adapter ("Connects to NACS home chargers only").
  • 2027 on a J1772 charger: GM J1772 AC Adapter.
  • 2027 on GM's PowerShift: GM PowerShift AC Charging Adapter, because the PowerShift's cable is CCS1.

Chevrolet's 2026 Blazer EV page also points owners to a GM-approved NACS DC adapter for Tesla Superchargers. That is a fast-charging part; GM says it will not work with Destination Charging. If you plan to buy a 2027 Blazer EV soon, a NACS home charger avoids the adapter on the new car, and an existing J1772 charger keeps working with GM's $99 adapter.

Can a Blazer EV back up the house?

Yes, with GM Energy's system. GM lists the 2024 through 2026 Blazer EV as vehicle-to-home capable, and the build tool shows V2H as standard on 2025 to 2027 trims we checked. It needs the PowerShift charger plus the V2H Enablement Kit. GM rates the kit's inverter at 9.6 kW, and says some 2024 vehicles need a software update first.

GM's wording is that the home must be "properly equipped" with "proper grid interconnection." Check Rocky Mountain Power's requirements before planning around it. The kit's Home Hub is listed for services up to 200 amps. Current GM Energy prices and offers are on the Chevrolet hub, and our home EV charger installation page explains what affects the install.

Blazer EV home charging questions

Does the Blazer EV SS need a bigger home charger?

No. Chevrolet's 2026 build tool lists the same 11.5 kW onboard charging module as standard on the SS AWD and the LT FWD, with no 19.2 kW option shown. The SS has a larger 102 kWh pack, so a full charge takes longer, but the fastest useful home setup is still a 48 amp charger on a 60 amp circuit.

What breaker does a Blazer EV charger need?

A 60 amp breaker for a 48 amp charger, which matches the Blazer EV's 11.5 kW onboard charger. EV charging counts as a continuous load, so the breaker must be at least 125 percent of the charger's output. A 40 amp charger on a 50 amp breaker is a reasonable step down if the panel is tight.

Can a 2026 Blazer EV use a NACS home charger?

Yes, with GM's NACS Level 2 Adapter, which GM says connects CCS1-port GM EVs to NACS home chargers. The GM NACS DC Adapter sold for Superchargers will not do it; GM says that adapter does not work with Destination Charging. A J1772 charger plugs straight into a 2026 Blazer EV.

Does the Blazer EV come with a charger?

Chevrolet says the 2026 Blazer EV comes with a Dual Level Charge Cord for Level 1 and Level 2 charging, and the build tool lists it as standard. GM rates its Dual Level charger at up to 7.7 kW and 32 amps on Level 2. A wall charger roughly 50 percent faster is optional.

Can a Blazer EV power my home?

GM lists the 2024, 2025 and 2026 Blazer EV as vehicle-to-home capable, and Chevrolet's build tool shows V2H as standard on 2025 to 2027 trims we checked. It needs GM Energy's PowerShift charger and V2H Enablement Kit, plus a properly equipped home with grid interconnection. GM rates backup output at up to 9.6 kW.
